Kirby it up!

Look what i found in the latest Previews catalogue.
While i’m excited about the opportunity to get an Artist’s Edition of Forever People alongside the Fantastic Four one i think i might give this one a pass. The ocd collector in me is throwing himself against the wall.

Seeing Jack Kirby’s artwork in this format is a feast. I got my brother the Artist’s Edition of Thor by Jack Kirby as a combined birthday/christmas present and we both sat in awe before the powerful artwork.

But another chance to spend to much money presents itself on the opposing page.

Transformers vs. G.I. Joe no.10 (2015)

transformers_gijoe_10

Finally a new issue! Again it is a wild ride fueled by the imagination of Tom Scioli and John Barber. This issue alone is filled with enough stuff that would make up a few years worth of comics published by one of the big two.
But seriously, we are all craving an injection of fresh blood into our stacks, yet this book does not get the recognition it deserves.
The artwork needs to grow on the reader, but once you’re accepting the big, mechanical hand this title is offering you, it is a rewarding experience that might be based on licensed properties but is not afraid to tranform them to fit the creators vision.
The prose story in the back would make up a four issue or more run of a better selling title.

This comic is a visual feast. But i does not end there, it is just the thing that either draws you in or sends you to the next title on the rack.
And the story….the baggage that each franchise brought with it not only got wiped off the table, it was put in a furnace. All the slag got extracted and the result was mixed with John Barberand Tom Scioli’s creativity.
Some of the iconic imaginary has to be used in the temple of of either franchise.
